Stella Maris International Centre for Multidisciplinary Research

The Stella Maris International Centre for Multidisciplinary Research was established in the year 2013 with the objective of offering both faculty and students opportunities to explore and rediscover all forms of research  for a multidisciplinary scholarship enquiry.

The Centre’s research network aims to improve faculty and students’ ability to foster productive cross/interdisciplinary collaboration in dealing with global research challenges both within the institution and beyond.

The institutional policy framework moves broadly in three directions: quality enhancement of research output, the pursuit of excellence and innovation and advocacy research on a range of areas which include health and wellbeing, sustainability and resilience, global migration, political conflict, and information technology.  These disciplinary directions require thinking beyond national borders to arrive at solutions which have significance in the context of a rapidly changing world.

Research Initiatives and Aims

Increasingly, educators are looking to research as a teaching influence for expanding knowledge areas, enhancing skills in the dissemination of knowledge, publication and  substantial research production. To achieve these objectives, the Centre aims to forge strong and productive collaborations with institutions of higher education and research institutes in the region and further, with national and international organisations. While building on existing strengths, innovative proposals and new research initiatives and other emergent areas of research enterprise are encouraged. Most important is the call to create an integrated community of researchers on campus, thereby providing an intellectually and creatively stimulating culture in which the community can thrive.
